Description | AUSTIN -- Ex-Gov. Dolph Briscoe has donated $100,000 to help repair his fire-gutted former residence.
Briscoe, who was governor in the 1970s, made the presentation today in Austin as part of the private effort to rebuild the devastated Governor's Mansion.
The June 8 fire has been ruled arson. So far no arrests.
The mansion was unoccupied and being renovated at the time of the early-morning blaze.
Texas first lady Anita Perry this week launched the fund for donations to help rebuild the 152-year-old structure.
Former Gov. Mark White and relatives of other ex-Texas governors, who support the rebuilding, were on hand for the presentation. |
