Description | Rich White spent the last eight years as Eau Claire County's district attorney as a Republican.
If White gets re-elected to a four-year term in November, it will be as a Democrat.
White filed as a Democrat when he submitted his nomination papers Tuesday to the state Elections Board in Madison.
"I was not really comfortable in the Republican Party, and I haven't been in some time," White said Wednesday.
White, who hasn't been to a GOP meeting in seven years, said his decision to switch parties was sealed earlier this year for two reasons.
First, White's wife, Cindy, is a backer of Barack Obama's presidential candidacy. Second, a Democratic Party gathering White attended in March had a positive impact on the prosecutor. |
