Description | An electronic newsletter sent out by Sen. Tim Hutchinson's (R-Ark.) office last week has prompted the Senate Rules and Administration Committee to begin an immediate review of the Internet usage policy for Senate offices, particularly those of incumbents seeking re-election.
A spokesman for Hutchinson, who is up for re-election this year and faces a primary challenge on May 21, said they have decided to temporarily suspend distribution of the e-mail newsletter that reaches 500 people each week.
The Arkansas Republican's office e-mailed a newsletter on April 15 that appeared to violate the 60-day moratorium outlined in the Senate rules, a restriction on Senators' ability to transmit information electronically before a primary or a general election "unless it is in response to a direct inquiry." |
