Description | BATON ROUGE -- A proposal to impose chemical castration on rapists and other sex offenders has moved to the Louisiana House.
The bill by Senator Nick Gautreaux, a Democrat from Meaux, won approval Wednesday from the House Criminal Justice Committee.
The panel narrowed the bill with an amendment that would allow judges to impose chemical castration on males convicted of just five sex crimes: aggravated rape, forcible rape, second-degree sexual battery, aggravated incest and aggravated crime against nature.
In an earlier version, the bill also included crimes such as kidnapping that did not involve sex. |
