SYLVA, NC [1/29/1960] (AP) - Representative David M. Hall, Democrat of North Carolina, died in a hospital here today after he appeared to be on the road to recovery from an operation for cancer.

His physician, Dr. C.L. Slagle, said the 41-year old freshman representative died of complications from the operation, including a kidney blockage.

Hall was a paraplegic and, though confined to a wheelchair since the age of 15, he went on to become one of western North Carolina's leading lawyers. He also had represented his county in the state legislature.

He was elected to Congress in 1958 and only recently announced he would run again. That was after his physicians had told him his cancer had been completely removed.

Hall underwent an operation for cancer of the bladder in New York's Sloan-Kettering Institute last [fall] and later underwent further surgery there.
