Description | As State Sen. Dan Webster winds down his final term in the legislature, thanks to term limits, papers around the state, from the Sentinel to the St. Pete Times this past weekend, have been reflecting upon Webster's rise to prominence -- from unknown legislator to House Speaker and leader in the senate.
The rap on him usually goes like this: His politics are far right, but he's respected even by those on the left and the right for his convictions and character. I agree. Naturally, that leads to the speculation about what Webster might do next -- challenge Ric Keller in a primary or maybe run for county mayor in 2010 when Rich Crotty steps down?
If he's smart, he won't do the latter. |
