Description | Former Conservative leadership contender David Orchard is urging members of his party to fight a merger with the Canadian Alliance. Orchard said last night in London the Progressive Conservative party will be swallowed up by the merger and Alliance policies will prevail when a new platform is inked.
"I am very much opposed to this so-called merger, which really is essentially going to be a takeover of our party by the Canadian Alliance," Orchard said.
"If ratified, it will involve the liquidation of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. Our constitution will cease to exist as of Dec. 12 if this goes ahead."
