DescriptionSecretary of State Bill Bradbury has trimmed the prospective Democratic and Republican candidates on Oregon's presidential primary ballot May 20 to three each.

Democrats are New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, former Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama. Republicans are former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Arizona Sen. John McCain and Texas Rep. Ron Paul. The lists could be cut again by the deadline of March 20.

Oregon law gives sole discretion to the secretary of state to list candidates "generally recognized or advocated in national news media."
