Description | WASHINGTON, DC-Congressman Phil Hare (D-IL) today released the following statement in response to Rock Island County Democratic Party Chairman John Gianulis' decision not to seek re-election.
"John Gianulis has spent the last 40 years fighting to strengthen our party and our community. With his retirement, Rock Island Democrats are losing their greatest champion.
"John has built a strong, diverse party that is committed to meeting the needs of Rock Island County families. Under his leadership, Democrats have seen electoral success in virtually every office. Nobody loves this party more than him.
"John was a great supporter of my predecessor Lane Evans. And I will always be grateful that he backed my candidacy from the very beginning.
"John was even elected to lead all party chairs in Illinois—further evidence that Rock Island Democrats were lucky to have him.
"John is a great friend and I wish him and his wife Mary Jane the very best in the years to come." |
