Description | Ian M. Hayes, a financial adviser from Lower Allen Twp., announced his candidacy for a state House seat representing parts of the West Shore.
Rep. Jerry Nailor, 61, a 20-year veteran in the Legislature, announced in November that he's retiring at the end of 2008.
Hayes, 34, a Navy veteran, said he welcomes the chance to serve his community.
The 88th District includes Lower Allen, Upper Allen and Monroe townships, Mechanicsburg, Lemoyne, New Cumberland, Shiremanstown and a part of Wormleysburg.
Hayes enlisted in the Navy after graduating from Cedar Cliff High in 1991. He earned an associate degree in Pre-Teaching and Communication from Hawaii Pacific University.
He is vice chairman of the Lower Allen Twp. Republican Committee and a committeeman for the 4th Precinct, and a member of the West Shore Chamber of Commerce, the Highland Neighborhood Association and the Highland Elementary School Parent Teacher Association. |
