DescriptionFormer President Joseph Estrada said he’d rather pick himself to lead the country than entrust the task to any of today’s presidential aspirants. He made the remark during a break in the People Asia Magazine "People of the Year" Awards when pressed to comment on who among the presidential aspirants present in the affair would have the best chances in 2010.

On the issue of the constitutional ban on re-electing presidents, Estrada maintained that he did not complete his six-year term.

Estrada was among the special guests that included Vice President Noli de Castro, Senators Mar Roxas II, Loren Legarda and Jinggoy Estrada, and veteran actress and Batangas Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto.

Estrada has repeatedly declared he would not run in the 2010 presidential elections but would only do so if the opposition fails to unite or support a single standard-bearer. The former President admitted that their recently commissioned survey showed Legarda leading, followed by De Castro and Sen. Francis Escudero.
