DescriptionThe Republican candidate for West Lafayette mayor faces stiff allegations. But the accuser is not the Democratic candidate. It's a fellow Republican. The city's redevelopment director Josh Andrew calls Nola Gentry's ideas and candidacy an embarrassment to the party. Andrew, a fellow Republican, made the claims in the "Opinions" section of Tuesday's edition of the Journal and Courier.

Gentry refutes the claim. Andrew's letter called Gentry an embarrassment and a candidate with a lack of vision.

"Maybe Mr. Andrew is trying to preserve that status quo so he can have a job after January 1st," said Gentry.

Andrew would not discuss the letter. But in it he points out while Gentry was a county commissioner, she persuaded the county to pulled out of the agreement to build the Myers Pedestrian bridge. Gentry says her stand was taken out of context.
