Description | BATON ROUGE, La. -- Republican Governor-elect Bobby Jindal has picked his hurricane recovery chief: Paul Rainwater, a top aide to Democratic U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu.
Jindal announced Monday that Rainwater is his choice to lead the Louisiana Recovery Authority as its executive director, the chief architect of policies guiding recovery from hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Rainwater is from Lake Charles. He currently works as legislative director and chief of operations for Landrieu's Senate office. In that role, he works on budget issues, including homeland security and recovery items.
He previously worked for the LRA for seven months as the director of hazard mitigation and intergovernmental affairs. He is a lieutenant colonel for the Louisiana National Guard.
Jindal takes office January 14.
