Description | Mode of election in Missouri - Wm. H. Ashley, Esq. is elected Governor, for four years [actually he lost the race]. The Governors in this State are ineligible for reelection for two terms in succession. In the late election the citizems voted, for the first time, viva voce, and appeared much displeased with this aristocratical innovation on the goold old mode of voting by ballot.
