DescriptionMichigan backers of Sen. Hillary Clinton's presidential bid must be doing handstands today, now that their candidate is the only Democratic front-runner with the good sense to leave her name on the state's Jan. 15 primary ballot.

Well, hooray for Hillary.

Her courage in resisting the pressure from Iowa and New Hampshire to shun Michigan may cost her a few votes in those pipsqueak states, but it signals to other states that their issues and concerns matter, too.

The New York senator will be joined on the Michigan Democratic ballot by Ohio U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut and former Alaska U.S. Sen. Mike Gravel, long shots who have nothing to lose anyway.

But let's turn our attention to the cowards who are so fearful of upsetting Iowa and New Hampshire that they pulled their names from the ballot of a state that will be key to winning the general election next November.
