[Former Canadian PM] Chretien recovering after quadruple bypass surgery

Description | Former prime minister Jean Chrétien underwent successsful quadruple heart bypass surgery at the Montreal Heart Institute on Wednesday, his office said in a statement.
Chief of surgery Dr. Michel Pellerin, who performed the operation, said Chrétien is expected to have a full and complete recovery, according to the statement.
The surgery was performed Wednesday morning. Chrétien was admitted to the hospital Monday night.
Over the weekend, he had been attending the President's Cup at the Royal Montreal Golf Club, where he began feeling chest pains and some discomfort. |
