Description | Federal Reserve governor Edward Gramlich died today of leukemia, his wife, Ruth Gramlich said. He was 68.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Robert, daughter Sarah and six grandchildren.
Mr. Gramlich, known as Ned, served on the Fed from 1997 to 2005. He was active in consumer protection issues and was recently on the staff of the Urban Institute, a Washington think tank. He had recently advocated beefed up federal oversight of subprime mortgage lending, an issue he had pressed without success at the Fed. |
