Description | Republican businessman John Georges said he may switch to independent or even Democrat because his latest poll indicates that could give him a better chance of making a runoff against U.S. Rep. Bobby Jindal in the race for governor.
"I think I'm within striking distance for second place," said Georges, who was tied for last as a Republican but third as an independent in the five-person poll released Wednesday.
He said it indicates that he'd have 3 percent of the vote as a Republican but 8 percent as an independent against Jindal, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin, state Sen. Walter Boasso and Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell. |
