Description | The former Labour MP Will Edwards has died in Wrexham Maelor Hospital at the age of 69.
Mr Edwards, who lived in Llangollen, was MP for Merioneth between 1966 and 1974 before he lost the seat to Plaid Cymru's Dafydd Elis Thomas.
He was a solicitor in Wrexham, Bala and Corwen and retired some years ago after developing heart problems.
Mr Edwards leaves a widow, Eleri and four grown-up children. His funeral is expected to take place next Thursday.
After winning the Merioneth seat in 1966, Mr Edwards increased his majority at the 1970 election, beating Plaid's Dafydd Wigley into second place, but he lost to Plaid in February 1974. |
