Description | Hyde critical after bypass
July 25, 2007
Former Rep. Henry Hyde (R-Ill.) was in critical condition Tuesday after undergoing triple bypass heart surgery.
Hyde, 83, was under sedation at Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora.
He had the surgery Saturday after it was discovered that three of his four heart arteries were blocked.
Hyde, who retired from Congress in January 2006 after 32 years, represented the west and northwest suburbs. He has been confined to a wheelchair.
Hyde was going to have the House Foreign Affairs committee room in the U.S. Capitol named after him today, but the event was postponed. |
