Description | They are registering as domestic partners. Christopher Mobley and his partner, Anthony Davis have been together for five years. They say it's about time Washington recognized their union.
The couple is not wasting any time. They plan to register as domestic partners Wednesday.
The law gives gays more rights, including hospital visitation power for their partner, organ donations, and inheritance rights, when there's no will. This law does not allow gay marriage. Gay rights supporters say they've fought discrimination all their lives.
When the Secretary of State's office opened its doors in Olympia this morning., 85-couples registered in just the first hour.
The new law also affects senior citizens.
A provision allows heterosexual couples to file for domestic partnership, if one of the partners is at least 62-years of age. |
