Description | "New Jersey's political disclosure laws require that lawmakers and candidates divulge their sources of income. But nothing prohibits husband and wife from working for the same cause.
So when Sen. Robert E. Littell, R-Morris, last year helped broker a deal for the state to buy 450 acres of open mountainous land in Vernon from a resort that Littell's wife was representing, the senator did not violate state ethics laws.
"It's not illegal to have your wife as a lobbyist . . . according to our lousy ethics laws," said Jeff Tittel, head of the New Jersey Chapter of the Sierra Club."
