A top elected official says legislative auditors were wrong in stating that budget controls were bypassed in the big Nevada College Savings Program that he oversaw and promoted in ads that ran during his campaign season.
Lieutenant Governor Brian Krolicki, who oversaw the program while serving as state treasurer, told trustees of the savings program that the auditors were "simply wrong" in contending that state laws were broken.
Krolicki says the Legislative Counsel Bureau auditors focused "narrowly" on general state laws rather than specific statutes governing the 3.3-billion-dollar program.
He adds that the specific laws "should and do take precedence over the general statutes cited in the very narrowly focused LCB report." |
