Description | BOSTON -- The Legislature is scheduled to meet in constitutional convention Thursday with a vote looming on an amendment to outlaw gay marriage in Massachusetts.
But that vote could be delayed if backers of same-sex marriage are unable to sway enough votes to defeat the amendment.

The measure needs the support of at least 50 lawmakers, or one-quarter of the General Court, to advance to next year's state ballot."
