Columbus - A state treasurer's office employee quit her job this week in the wake of an accusation that she dropped the Imus bomb in a heated exchange with a co-worker.
A woman in Treasurer Richard Cordray's community education office said Diann Thomas Beasley called her a "nappy-headed ho" amid a profanity-laced attack last month.
"It was a mutual decision that it would be best for her and best for the office if she resigned," said Cordray spokeswoman Leesa Brown.
Radio personality Don Imus was fired by CBS last month for using the same slur to insult the Rutgers women's basketball team. The exchange between Beasley and co-worker Samantha Simpson, who are both black, occurred April 19, about a week after Imus' firing.
Beasley, a 26-year state employee, worked for Ohio House Democratic leader Joyce Beatty for six years before joining Cordray's office in January in a $46,000-a-year administrative staff job. |
