Description | The Senate passed a bill on Thursday that included monetary aid to troops, a definite deadline for troop withdrawal, and financial aid for farmers and ranchers. Senator John Thune however, voted against the legislation, which included $4.2 billion to help farmers and ranchers hurt by drought, flood, and other weather related disasters.
The bill ordered President Bush to begin withdrawing troops within 120 days of passage while setting a non-binding goal of ending combat operations by Mar. 31, 2008.
