Description | Former Arizona Gov. Evan Mecham is a patient at the Arizona State Veteran Home, but there is no suggestion that he has suffered the neglect that has spurred numerous investigations into the facility.
Mecham, a World War II veteran and governor in 1987 and 1988, has been at the home since 2004, receiving treatment for symptoms similar to Alzheimer's.
"It's difficult to say what level of care he's getting," said state Rep. Ben Miranda, D-Phoenix, who encountered Mecham during a tour of the home last week. "The facility is clean, everything seemed to be working. There were no outward signs that he wasn't getting good treatment." |
