DescriptionThe New Hampshire House of Representatives passed a bill Wednesday that would give gay couples the right to enter into civil unions. The bill passed on a vote of 243 to 129 after legislators debated all morning.

The civil union bill had bi-partisan support. It would give gay couples all the rights enjoyed by married couples. The bill goes to the state Senate next.

Governor John Lynch, a Democrat, opposes gay marriage but has not said whether he would sign a bill creating civil unions.
