Despite reports that he is being wooed by at least two gubernatorial candidates, this Tuesday State Sen. Denny Jacobs will kick off his secretary of state campaign -- again.

After much campaign hubbub, a fundraiser and a birthday party, Sen. Jacobs will hold the kick-off open house from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at his headquarters, 1136 4th Ave. in Moline. The public is invited, and refreshments will be served.

Ms. Netsch said last week Sen. Jacobs was on a list of possible running mates presented to her by her supporters. Ms. Netsch said she is not even sure she wants a partner in the race, but if she did, she said she would consider her good friend Denny.

Her only competition in the primary thus far is Democratic State Sen. Penny Severns. Republican Incumbent Bob Kustra is waiting in the wings for the November election.

Mr. Burris toured the Florence Aldridge Child Development Center in East Moline last Thursday, speaking about his efforts in fighting child abuse. He also attended a fundraiser at th
