Description | PHOENIX - Contenders in the race to represent the most diverse and fastest-growing district in Phoenix are off and running.
Laura Pastor, daughter of U.S. Rep. Ed Pastor, on Tuesday made official her bid for a City Council seat in District 7.
She said she intends to be the next leader of that district, which spans from central to southwest Phoenix. She is facing off against several other residents who intend to join the campaign, including another heavyweight in the Latino community: Michael Nowakowski.
The District 7 race is likely the best opportunity for a Hispanic to join the council and represent the city, where more than 40 percent of population is Hispanic. |
