Description(WCCO) U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.) injured his forehead two weekends ago dumpster diving, a Washington Post blogger is reporting.

Mary Ann Akers said in her "The Sleuth" column Friday that the Senator returned to Washington D.C. last week with a "prominent gash" on his forehead. Coleman was reportedly knocked nearly unconscious while dumpster diving in St. Paul.

Coleman defended his actions, telling Akers he was not digging for food, rather was "looking for something his wife accidentally threw in the dumpster." Coleman later elaborated he was diving for an antique lamp in the dumpster behind his St. Paul home, which is being renovated.

Coleman's wife, Laurie Coleman, is an actress and model. The Senator did recover the lamp, Akers said.

On Monday, the Senator did not have a noticeable cut or scar on his forehead.
