Description | JUNEAU -- When House majority leaders announced they would try to chop a month off the traditional 121-day legislative session this year, they caught a lot of people off guard -- including the guy who led the charge for the 90-day session.
Rep. Jay Ramras, R-Fairbanks, sponsor of the citizens' initiative that voters narrowly passed last November, said one thing he particularly liked about the measure was its 2008 effective date.
It gave the Legislature time for a thoughtful dialogue on what changes would be needed for an orderly transition, he said. |
