Description | With prices starting upward of $300, bottle service can be an expensive way to drink the night away at city clubs. But if some City Council members have their way, it could become illegal to pour your own booze at the table.
Following high-profile deaths connected to nightclubs last year, Councilwoman Melinda Katz (D-Forest Hills) wants to require clubs to keep a waiter stationed at bottle service tables. The waiter would keep an eye on patrons and actually pour the drinks.
Katz calls the plan a "good compromise" that would allow club owners to continue the lucrative bottle service but prevent overly intoxicated or underage drinkers from continuing to imbibe. |
