DescriptionAUSTIN Republican Governor Rick Perry today told The Associated Press he's not interested in being selected as a vice presidential nominee.

Perry, who's about to enter his second full term, pointed to the state's achievements under his leadership.
Perry told A-P that he hopes there's a lot of national attention on Texas, quote: "about how we do our business, how we have taken the Texas economy to one of the best, if not the best, in the country."
Perry's remarks were his strongest yet on the subject of a vice presidential nomination -- though he didn't say he'd turn down the job.
He says Texas has accomplished civil lawsuit reform, set up private-public partnerships for building highways and formed the job-creating Texas Enterprise Fund and Emerging Technology Fund.
Perry also alluded to upcoming proposals he'll make on higher education, health care for the uninsured and border security.
He again said he'll propose budget reforms. He didn't provide specifics.
