"ON TUESDAY, state Rep. Rosita Youngblood was one of only three Democrats to vote for Republican John Perzelas speaker of the House.
Within two hours of that vote, Youngblood's daughter-in-law was fired from her job as a clerk for the state police.
Then, on Wednesday afternoon, someone fired a close-range shot into a rear passenger door of Youngblood's parked state car, a Dodge Durango.
Youngblood's 13-year-old son discovered the bullet hole in the car in a parking lot behind her office on Greene Street, near Chelten Avenue, in Germantown.
"I had just sent my youngest son out to the car to get his coat [about 4:30 p.m.] and when he came back he said, 'Mommy, you have big hole in your car,' " Youngblood said.
The bullet entered through the rear passenger door, passed across the rear seats and lodged in a radio speaker in the rear driver's side door.
"I am upset," said Youngblood, who filed a police report. "What if that happened when my son was sitting back there?"
Police said to her, " 'It looks like somebody is trying to send you a message,' " Youngblood told us.
Youngblood's daughter-in-law, Tomika Bullock, had worked for the state police for a month-and-a-half before being told she was being fired for putting a false employment history on her job application." |
