DescriptionFormer U.S. Congressman Peter G. Torkildsen has his eye on the chairmanship of the state Republican Party. Torkildsen wrote a letter to Republicans, saying that “with my years of experience as an activist, an elected official and a volunteer I want to take on the challenge of rebuilding our Party’s infrastructure and electing more Republicans to office.”

“Massachusetts is a once again a one party state. We need two party government, not a one party monopoly,” Torkildsen said.

GOP chairman Darrell W. Crate is stepping down, after Kerry Healey's loss to Deval Patrick in the governor's race. GOP activists have been calling for a reinvigorated GOP.
