Those wondering whether Gov. Brad Henry will challenge Sen. Jim Inhofe in 2008 can stop.
"No and no," Henry's spokesman Paul Sund replied when asked whether his Democratic boss was interested in the 2008 or 2010 Senate campaigns.
The term of Oklahoma's other senator, Tom Coburn, expires in 2010. Both senators are Republicans.
"He does not plan to run for the Senate in two years or four years," Sund said. "He's said many times that being governor of Oklahoma is the best job in politics. He has no desire to go to Washington."
Henry was on his way to Phoenix on Wednesday afternoon for a Council of State Governments forum.
Henry's re-election this fall by a near-record margin fueled speculation that he might take a shot at unseating Inhofe, who will be just short of his 74th birthday on Election Day 2008. |
