Description | Former Chilean dictator Gen. Augusto Pinochet is reportedly clinging to life and has been given last rites after suffering a heart attack.
"We are now in the hands of God and of the doctors. My father is in very bad condition," said his son Marco Antonio Pinochet, adding his father was in serious but stable condition.
He said that doctors "virtually rescued" his father from death by performing an angioplasty to clear his arteries.
Pinochet was taken to a military hospital in Santiago early Sunday after suffering an "acute heart attack" and a buildup of fluid on his lungs, his son told reporters. |
