Description | If you're a journalist, living in any town for a long time is both an advantage and disadvantage. Once you set down roots, you catch glimpses of the personal lives of people that you see in public places. For better or worse, you've got to keep that out of what you write, but if you're human it frames some of your impressions.
In that way, this is something I can say about Jim Walsh, our longtime congressional representative: I know of good things he's done on a gut-level basis that have nothing to do with his public job. That is not always the case with politicians. Because of that, I can't help but think of Walsh as a decent guy.
But I also think he is missing the boat, badly, on why he almost lost this month's election. |
