DescriptionIt will all be over a week from today, save for pulling up the stakes on the drooping yard signs.

Jon Stewart won’t remember our ZIP code. (No, I couldn’t get a ticket. Yes, I’m bitter.) There will be no more traffic jams caused by presidential drop-ins. TV advertising will return to its regularly scheduled tripe.

But they can’t take our memories. So here, in ascending order, are my personal picks of the worst of the worst ads from print, radio and television.

No. 5: In the "takes-one-toknow-one" category, state Auditor Betty D. Montgomery attacks her Democratic opponent for attorney general because he has represented someone convicted of pandering obscenity involving a minor. She calls state Sen. Marc Dann a hypocrite because he says he’s for tough sex-offender laws.

That reminds me of 1994 when Montgomery called a similar ad the "worst kind of gutter politics." That year, Attorney General Lee Fisher hammered Montgomery, the challenger, because, as Wood County prosecutor, she had negotiated pleas with more than 30 rapists and child molesters.
