DescriptionThe battle in the political ring is now headed to the boxing ring.

On Thursday’s K92 (WXLK-FM) morning radio show, “The Mornin’ Thang” Democratic Congressional candidate Al Weed challenged Republican Rep. Virgil Goode to a charity boxing match next week.

The radio show’s hosts, Danny Myers and Zack Jackson, have named the boxing event, “Danny and Zack’s Political Slug Fest.”

“I honestly had no faith in anyone participating in this idea,” Myers said on-air.

The hosts said they contacted area congressional candidates on the Nov. 7 ballot about the event. Weed is the only one who has signed on.

Weed appeared on the radio show around 7:30 a.m. Thursday to talk about the event.

“If Virgil Goode accepts our challenge to box in the ring, are you going to put some military special forces grip on the back of his neck and knock him out?” said Jackson.
