Description | KHNL) - Former Lieutenant Governor Mazie Hirono narrowly held off a crowded field to win the District 2 U.S. Representative race, Ed Case's seat in Congress.
Hirono has 24,385 votes or 20.7 percent of the votes with 195 out of 196 precincts reporting according to the Hawaii's Office of Elections third printout. State Senator Colleen Hanabusa trailed Hirono throughout election night. She has 23,586 votes or 20.0 percent and Matt Matsunaga finished third with 15,953 votes or 13.5 percent.
Hirono supporters celebrated early after the second printout was released. They clapped, cheered and chanted, "Mazie! Mazie!"
Ten candidates competed in the race, including half a dozen sitting members of the state legislature. |
