[MD Comptroller] Schaefer likens Owens to "great-great-grandmother"

| Description | BALTIMORE (AP) -- Last week, he apologized. This week, outspoken Comptroller William Donald Schaefer is saying again what's on his mind and raising eyebrows.
Schaefer says his Democratic primary opponent, Anne Arundel County Executive Janet Owens, started what he calls "dirty politics" this spring when she publicly likened him to a grandfather. During a campaign stop yesterday in Baltimore, Schaefer likened Owens to a great-great-grandmother. He criticized her clothes and called her hairstyle "old fashioned." And he said he wouldn't apologize. Owens used words such as pitiful, bizarre and offensive to describe Schaefer's comments. |
