Description | When media from Milwaukee to Memphis reported that J.B. Van Hollen told fellow GOP attorney general candidate Paul Bucher that he sucked, the Republican powers that be knew they had to call a timeout.
Cut out the Two Stooges routine, party honchos quickly informed the two campaigns, according to people familiar with the conversations. The two Republicans vying for the state's top law enforcement job were making the party look bad.
The pair were then told to focus their attacks on the Democrats, not each other.
Not surprisingly, the latest round of ads has Van Hollen going after incumbent Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager for problems at the crime lab and Bucher whacking Democratic challenger Kathleen Falk on the issue of immigration.
Must have been some tongue-lashing. |
