Description | Gov. Mitch Daniels was keeping a low-profile this Labor Day weekend with Election Day nearing and some Hoosiers still upset over Republican lawmakers' decision to switch the state to daylight saving time and lease the Indiana Toll Road.
The Labor Day weekend is traditionally a busy time for politicians making their final push on behalf of candidates leading up to the November election.
Two years ago, Daniels had a heavy campaign schedule over Labor Day, riding his motorcycle across southern Indiana and marching in two parades as he campaigned for the governor's office.
Yet this year, with Republicans fighting to hang on to control of the Indiana House, he's doing no Labor Day political campaigning. His only planned public event was attending a charity fundraising event in Auburn on Sunday.
The governor isn't on the ballot Nov. 7, but the stakes are as high for him as they are for the candidates. |
