Description | Canadian trash will stop coming to Michigan within four years, starting with a 20 percent drop this year and a phased withdrawal over the next three years, Michigan’s two senators announced Thursday.
Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin, both Democrats, said they had negotiated an agreement over the past five weeks with the minister of environment for Ontario to put a halt to Canadian sludge and household waste shipments, which amounted to 350 trucks per day crossing the border.
