Description | What was already one of the most contentious congressional campaigns in the country is now the most expensive in the nation.
Longboat Key businessman Vern Buchanan dropped another $300,000 of his own money into the District 13 race to replace Katherine Harris in Congress, bringing his total contribution to $2.1 million, more than any other congressional candidate has paid to run this election season.
Coupled with the $2 million he raised from other donors, Buchanan has raised $4.1 million -- also more than any of the more than 435 candidates running for the House, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks money in politics. |
