| Description | PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad ยท Noor Hassanali, Trinidad's first president of Indian descent, died Friday following an illness of several weeks, his son said. He was 88.
The former two-term president was buried later Friday in accord with traditions of his Muslim faith, said Khalid Hassanali. He declined to elaborate on the cause of death.
Mr. Hassanali, a former judge and lawyer, served as president of Trinidad and Tobago from 1987 to 1997. |
