| Description | Over 600 tribal leaders and representatives of clans of all Iraqi sects and ethnic groups began meeting Saturday in Baghdad in a conference of national reconciliation and dialogue presided over by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.
The prime minister convened the conference in order to promote his national reconciliation initiative of last June amongst the country's myriad tribes. The initiative was approved by the Iraqi national assembly over a month ago.
