DescriptionSCOTTSDALE - This week, Scottsdale voters began receiving recorded calls from Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas urging them to support Proposition 401 in the Sept. 12 primary "to protect Scottsdale's quality of life."

At stake is a measure that would ban lap dances at the clubs by requiring dancers to stay four feet away from patrons.

"Prop. 401, approved unanimously by the City Council, sets reasonable restrictions on sexually oriented businesses to protect public health and safety," says Thomas, a Phoenix resident, in the message. "This ordinance is very similar to county regulations that have been upheld by the federal courts."
